There’s a reason every stage has one. The SM58 is Shure’s cardioid dynamic vocal mic, and it’s been the default for live vocals for decades. It’s tough, predictable and sounds right straight away.
The cardioid pattern keeps the focus on the voice and rejects spill from the stage. Frequency response runs from 50Hz to 15kHz, tuned with a brighter midrange and a bass roll-off for vocals. A built-in spherical filter tames pops and wind, and a pneumatic shock mount cuts handling noise. It weighs 298g.
